The constant noise of contemporary life makes it easy to miss the most profound message the world has ever known: Jesus loves you. Innovative teachers Craig Gross and Jason Harper will separate the religious from the real as they show how this simple truth is worth our undivided attention. The authors weave Jesus' narrative with their own stories of serving among the "least of these" in this inspiring summons to world-changing faith. Join them as they encounter shut-ins, drunks, inmates, porn stars, and others while striving to follow Christ in their daily lives.
Westboro Baptist Church Video and Book Review
When we were at Westboro in Topeka last Sunday, we gave them a few copies of the book. Margie said she would gladly review it. The review is posted below the video that we put together from last week:
Critique of Jesus Loves You this I know by craig gross and jason harper
By Westboro Baptist Church
This “book” is a collection of perverse platitudinous probably-plagiarized ditties designed to cast off the bonds which the good laws and statutes of God impose on the human heart. The "authors" went into the bowels of this dark-hearted nation, and pulled forth some of the most motley grungy rebellious proud sinners and chronicled their misery. News flash girls: You live a life utterly contrary to all your Creator has told you to do and – no flippin’ duh – you’re miserable! This life is vanity; it’s laden with misery; and if you focus all your energies sowing to the flesh, and ignoring the spirit and your duty to God, of course you’ll be miserable. The only hope for people in that mess – as well as the power-mongering wealthy fancier proud sinners of doomed-america (from the least to the greatest) – is the truth. Obey God and he will bless you; disobey him and he will curse you, in every way, every day, in this life and after. Unless you tell your fellow man to obey God and rebuke him for his sin, you hate him. So – like all the rest of the lying whore false prophets of this nation – of whatever brand of poison – craig and jason hate their fellow man. They offer this sappy-floppy-pretend-love for one reason only – to make the bucks!
These two joel olsteen wannabies (craig and jason) made a lazy lightweight effort to mimic joel’s theology-of-lust-and-greed, in the hopes they’ll cash in on some of his millions. They rightly perceive this is a generation that wants a submissive cotton candy goddess to serve, one who will let them live in any proud sin and pretend they can go to heaven. Upon perceiving that there was gold in the hills of this nation’s sinful rebellion, with slack jaws and sparkling-with-idol-worship eyes, they set about to form their own brand of feel-good junk-food theology. It’s a sugary twist on a high-octane-level-sugar diet. Bor-ing.
Jesus loves his elect, and only his elect. Those people – called a remnant (some of whom have been alive on this earth since the dawn of creation) – have attributes and descriptors, all found in the Bible. (That’s the book craig and jason use as a prop similar to how Shirley Phelps-Roper used their dung-digest as a paper-weight.) The attributes of God’s elect are obedience, meekness, fear of God, and a broken and contrite heart. Those whom Jesus loves (his joint-heirs in glory) have a courageous testimony before their generation; the whole world knows and hates them. Their descriptors are poor, needy, widow and fatherless. Those elegant Bible words weren’t sufficient for the spiritual-slob-fest of craig and jason. So they made up new words, coming out of their black hearts, in sharp conflict with the Scriptures, appealing to the masses, and sadly for those two lassies – utterly abhorrent to God and the very words that will condemn their souls to everlasting punishment. Sucks to be craig and jason! Now into the trash the “book” goes. (Smile.)
