About The Book

The constant noise of contemporary life makes it easy to miss the most profound message the world has ever known: Jesus loves you. Innovative teachers Craig Gross and Jason Harper will separate the religious from the real as they show how this simple truth is worth our undivided attention. The authors weave Jesus' narrative with their own stories of serving among the "least of these" in this inspiring summons to world-changing faith. Join them as they encounter shut-ins, drunks, inmates, porn stars, and others while striving to follow Christ in their daily lives.

Because of Harvey

We live in one of the most prosperous nations on the planet.  And in the midst of it, many in America are broken and broke.  To much was extended on houses, loans, and credit have caused the balloon of bankruptcy to pop.  Now, millions of Americans are feeling the pain of poverty.  The inner city is being hit hard.  Places like Detroit are crumbling because of cars, credit, and crime.  Consider this:

The economic recession has left Detroit with an astounding 22 percent unemployment rate, almost three times the national average. It is now one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. Rochelle Riley, a columnist with the Detroit Free Press, compares the Motor City's troubles to devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.”

In the middle of what some would call Hell, we have found a slice of spirituality and depth that others are calling Heaven.  Harvey Carey is a pastor and progressive thinker that we have partnered with for years.  Located in the heart of Detroit’s inner-city is a ray of hope that communicates that Jesus loves.  Because of Harvey and his efforts, the disconnected, voiceless, marginalized, disenfranchised, and overlooked are being reconnected.
Harvey is driven by compassion.  I want that.  Because of Harvey, lives are being restored to their Creator.

In an upcoming book tour stop, Craig and I will be with Harvey and his church.  Within Detroit’s population of 5.2 million people, people are discovering hope through unconditional love.  We want to help communicate what God has for these people.
What happens when people work together?  Answer, miracles.  With a collapsed housing market, we saw a need to help somehow.  So we bought a house.  Harvey’s church, the
Citadel of Faith, is helping get it ready.  On October 11th, we will give the house to someone to show God’s love in a practical way.  The message in church that Sunday will be entitled “Jesus Loves the Disconnected.”

Do you live near Detroit?  Are you within driving distance?  How would it affect you if you were able to be part of this miracle in progress?

Much hope and more love,
Jason
