About The Book

The constant noise of contemporary life makes it easy to miss the most profound message the world has ever known: Jesus loves you. Innovative teachers Craig Gross and Jason Harper will separate the religious from the real as they show how this simple truth is worth our undivided attention. The authors weave Jesus' narrative with their own stories of serving among the "least of these" in this inspiring summons to world-changing faith. Join them as they encounter shut-ins, drunks, inmates, porn stars, and others while striving to follow Christ in their daily lives.

A Vacation for the Soul

by craig gross on Mon, Aug 3rd 09 at 10:09AM

I just returned from a week’s vacation with my family.  I totally disconnected.  No laptop.   Just Jeanette and the kids.  We hopped on a Nickelodeon chartered cruise ship and enjoyed a much needed family get-away.  The kids loved Slime Time, Sponge Bob and a whole cast of characters from their favorite shows.  There was something for every-aged kid, something for everyone!

By 9:00 PM, the cruise ship was a ghost town.  Parents were tucked away in their cabins putting exhausted kids in bed.  The days in the sun had given way to silence on the ship’s decks.  On a couple occasions, I strolled the empty hallways letting my mind wander as to the parties that had pulsated and plagued the corridors.  Somewhere and sometime, people paraded on this ship.

I noticed the empty dance clubs.

I noticed the empty casinos.

The bars were empty.

At one point, this ship had been used as a pontoon party boat; a maritime Mardi Gras.  People had came on-board to find something.  Maybe it was rest.  Maybe it was hope.

I don’t think it is a stretch to think, some may have come looking for love.  If only our culture could understand that eternal love can’t be found in earthly venues.  Love is found at the cross.

The book is about to release.  Jason and I have spent the summer resting, planning, and dreaming of hope is held in the pages of what we have written.  Churches are coming on board telling us of their plans to use the book and DVD as church wide curriculum.  Small groups are making plans to use in home studies.

We are thrilled and humbled.  We realize the momentum that is building is due to the fact that people are finding themselves in the pages.  People are printing the sample chapter and giving it to family and friends who had given up on religion and had grown tired of routine. Yet, these same people were homesick for spirituality.

Jason and I wrote with the mindset that people needed a vacation for the soul.  Bitter and betrayed people are exhausted.  Forgotten people have crept out the backdoor on Sunday morning and nobody went after them.  The once-churched feel like they are outcast.  And in the middle of it all, Jesus loves.

Let people know we are less than thirty days away from the release of Jesus Loves You This I Know.  I have enclosed a link for you to get a free copy of the book.  Download the chapter, post a comment on Amazon or Barnes and Noble and we send you the book.  It’s that easy.  Here is a link to tell you how:  http://bit.ly/9UpZp

Thanks for joining on this journey.  Jason and I will rotate posting.  Tomorrow, check in and get a glimpse of his world as this whirlwind begins.

Until then,

Craig
