About The Book

The constant noise of contemporary life makes it easy to miss the most profound message the world has ever known: Jesus loves you. Innovative teachers Craig Gross and Jason Harper will separate the religious from the real as they show how this simple truth is worth our undivided attention. The authors weave Jesus' narrative with their own stories of serving among the "least of these" in this inspiring summons to world-changing faith. Join them as they encounter shut-ins, drunks, inmates, porn stars, and others while striving to follow Christ in their daily lives.

-Jesus Loves the Outcast - October 30-November 1, 2009 - Atlanta Pride Festival, Atlanta, GA.

The authors will be setting up a booth at the Atlanta Pride Festival with the simple message of “We Are Sorry.” Apologizing for the way religious people have treated homosexuals will hopefully return a positive and uplifting response from those participating in the pride festival.

“Jesus Loves You This I Know”

I read with dismay in the Topeka Capital-Journal Monday August 31st edition about the harsh and rude treatment by the Phelps’s clan to the authors of the book, “Jesus Loves You This I Know”.
As I have stated and preached many, many times, Jesus loves everyone, and I do mean everyone, all people, in all walks of life, at whatever stage of life they are in at that moment.
The Phelps’s clan thinks that Jesus only loves the perfect, of which they certainly are not! The Bible tells us that we are all sinners. Romans 6:23 states, ‘the wages of sin is death …’ Even Christians are sinners, and yes, even the obedient are still sinners. But if we do right in the Lord, we will be made perfect at the end of time.
I commend Craig Gross and Jason Harper for writing their book, “Jesus Loves You This I Know”!
The treatment that the Phelps gave to these two men is a full blown case of the ‘ID 10 T’ principal. What nonsense! We have to follow the BASIC plan; we are all “Brothers And Sisters In Christ”.
If the Phelps, and everyone, would read and study the Word of God – the Bible, they would understand that God loves everyone, all people, regardless of their race, creed, color, sexual orientation, faith beliefs, and any other label that we attach to people. God doesn’t label people, we do!
The Phelps have it all wrong – they think that God and Jesus do not love us, and will not love us, if we are not obedient to God, to Jesus and do not follow in their ways. That is a lie; it is wrong, and is stupidity thinking! The Phelps are perpetuating a very disturbing lie all around this country.
God loves us just like a parent loves their children. Our children make us unhappy sometimes, but we never stop loving them ever! It is the same way with God and Jesus. We are God’s children, and He loves us greatly! True, we are not always very lovable at times, but God and Jesus love us just the same, continually and unconditionally.
God is Love, and He shows that love to us, yet while we were, and still are, sinners. ‘But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us’. Romans 5:8. That means that Jesus died for all of us, even the Phelps. Jesus died for the ungodly, the sinners; that means every single one of us here on this earth.
Craig and Jason’s book is true, that “Jesus Loves You This I Know”, and every single chapter in their book is the truth! Read it and weep.
Thank You, Craig and Jason! Jesus Loves You This I Know! Jesus Loves Us This We Know! Jesus Loves Me This I Know!

Jesus loves everyone, but He also calls us to repent from sin. The new testament letters are applicable here also. Should I go on SINNING that grace may abound? NO. And, Let everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. AND, James 1:22--Be doers of the word, not hearers only.

Yes, Jesus loves everyone and He does call us all to repent. We have to repent and be baptized of our sins before we can enter into those heavenly gates! Yes, I have often preached about doing and not doing, listening and doing. And if you unscramble the letters to LISTEN, it comes out as SILENT. Be silent and hear the word of God and then listen and do what He is asking of us, telling us what we must do to enter Heaven. I never once stated in my letter that we are to keep on sinning and go about it that way. But still, Jesus Loves Us, This I Know! Take Care!

"We have a ton of volunteers 'coming out '..."
Just as a passer by, I think I'd word that a little differently. But that's just me...

Just "saw" you guys on DennyRadio WGKA - bless you and your effort! I am Catholic and a non-hater such as yourself. Jesus taught love for everyone and did not ask for qualifications or restrictions on that. Thank you for emphasising that! Enjoyed the interview and look forward to purchasing the book.

I never thought I ever see someone just plain LOVE as we are called to do. We are not called to point out that the Gay community still sins. We ALL still keep on sinning. Love thy neighbor..its so simple..drop your baggage pick up your cross and follow Jesus. NOT Theologians..

Interesting take, Jim. We ALL keep on sinning? I don't keep on sinning. I repented from my sins. That means I turned from them and turned to the Savior (Mark 1:15). Do I live in a sinful flesh? Yes, but I do not gratify the lust of the flesh each day. Openly sinning is against what Jesus said Himself (John 5:14). So, we do have the propensity to sin since we are in sinful bodies, but we are called to turn from sin (we should not openly sin: adultery, murder, LYING, etc) Continuing in sin is an indication that one is not walking with God. We don't 'love' someone when we fail to give them truth. BTW, the ministry that is supporting this volunteer effort also believes that these should repent also. So you are out of step with this ministry and the bible.

My only concern in helping out with this effort is this; if I am telling folks that Jesus loves them (and He does) and someone asks me, "Well, is this a sin?" what should I say?? NO?? MANY Christians have turned out to minister at these events to tell the participants how much God loves them only to be assaulted by angry parade goers.

"So you are out of step with this ministry and the bible. "

Ric, I didn't right an opinion peice on the entire ministry here. Just 5 lines. I made a breif comment on this ministry trying to show Love not promptly condemning them for their sin. But introducing Christ to them in a Loving and compassionate way. You are correct in the statement "We don't 'love' someone when we fail to give them truth". Not everyone comes to Christ in the same way. Introduce them to Christ and HIS Ministry with Love.
We live in a broken sinful world and MANY Christians struggle with sin openly or hidden it's the same. I don't Love Christ less because I struggle with sin . Speak the truth to people if they ask. As for Christians being assaulted at these gatherings, I applaud thier efforts, but many before them have shown nothing but hatred towards this group of people. I'm grateful someone is willing try a different approach. Thanks for your comments.

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).
